Academic star Andrea Marr (Dominique Swain) turns her attention from books to a band fronted by Todd Sparrow (Sean Patrick Flanery). Andrea soon becomes so preoccupied with the singer that she fails to see that one of her friends (Selma Blair) is suffering from an eating disorder, and another (Tara Reid) has romantic feelings for her. As the high school senior learns that she's one of Todd's many girlfriends, she begins to understand just what she's lost out on as a result of the relationship.
